Kite or cursor?

While this isn’t game related, my kids just thought this was hilarious. Austin is a city that just adores kites, and we have a rather large kite festival in the spring. This one has got to be the most ingenious I’ve seen.

One of the things I love about the gaming community is how generous and compassionate they are. A perfect example was posted on Dubious Quality today, where a gaming clan has come together to help one of their own visit Disney. The poor kid has ankylosing spondylitis, a debilitating arthritis of the spine that strikes young people. The typical age of onset is between 17 and 35, and can result in a fusion of the spine. Rick is 23 and would like to go to Disney – and it’s just incredible how the gamers gather together to help out.

Gamermom loves Doug Flutie. Fantasy football should mean gathering the greatest players on the field – and for this owner, character matters. I’ve been known to pass incredible value for guys in our drafts because they are thugs. Flutie, is a very good guy.

He does wonderful work for autism, and created the
Foundation for Autism:

The Foundation’s mission is to aid financially disadvantaged families who need assistance in caring for their children with autism; to fund education and research into the causes and consequences of childhood autism; and to serve as a clearinghouse and communications center for new programs and services developed for individuals with autism.

It’s 2006!

Tiki Barber scored my team 23 points…great way to go into the new year and that championship!

There are still fireworks going in Animal Crossing – all the townsfolk are in a wonderful festive mood. Great fun…

Pussycat Dolls performed and seemed to actually dance and sing live….fantastic!

Dick Clark sounds great and is just inspiring. (Can’t say the same about Seacrest…but hey!)

Grandma and Aunt S. arrived on a flight from Cincy tonite and we had fantastic texmex – can’t go wrong at Chuy’s!

Yep….great way to ring in the new year. May 2006 be warm and wonderful!

Gamermom and the Ladies of Football League Championships!

While I’m back and forth between my Nintendo DS, cleaning the house for visiting family, making gingerbread castles, etc. etc….I’m also very excited about the football games this week. I’m in the league championships for the Ladies of Football. Whahoo!

Greg Kellogg, who was writing fantasy football articles for Kellogg’s Komments and is now an advisor for SportIllustrate.com, started a ladies league back in….oh man….1997?! For 8 years we’ve been playing. A few of us have played the whole time. The drafts are great fun, and while there isn’t as much smack talk during the season, there are a few players there that I truly admire.

This year, I’ve made it to the final game…the big matchup! Woohooo!
